Brené Brown's Connections Curriculum

Empirically based strategies help you recognize shame as a universal experience
and embrace authentic living as a foundation for shame resilience.

Topics include defining shame, practicing empathy, exploring triggers and vulnerabilities, practicing critical awareness, reaching out to others; creating, embracing, and inspiring change. Connections will engage you on a cognitive, behavioral, and interpersonal level. You will learn via personal exercises, handouts, and reading assignments from Brown's best-selling book I Thought It Was Just Me (but it isn't): Telling the Truth About Perfectionism, Inadequacy, and Power.

DISCLAIMER:

This is not an ideal solution.

When COVID hit and we needed to move everything virtual, this work that we typically do in session needed a platform you could access online.

I am not in the tech world anymore and converting a DVD to an mp4 got ugly. The videos above are not broken up in a super helpful way. It will be easiest for you if you have a place in your workbook where you note which video (1, 2, 3, or 4) and what timestamp you're on as you progress through the material.

For example, if you're going through video 1, you might want to note: courage, compassion, & connection (1/4:48). That means that portion is in video 1 at minute 4:48. Take it if it's helpful, leave it if it isn't.

Look forward to seeing you and discussing what you've learned in our next session!!    -Carin
